The Challenge
Fair Way is a golf marketplace app that lets golfers buy and sell new and pre-loved equipment, from clubs and apparel to accessories and everything in between. In a crowded app market dominated by generic resale platforms, Fair Way needed to carve out a dedicated space for the golf community. The challenge was twofold: drive app downloads at scale to build a critical mass of users, and do so cost efficiently while ensuring those downloads converted into active, signed-up members who would list and buy gear on the platform.
Our Approach
Maitland deployed a multi-channel acquisition strategy combining PPC, paid social, design, email, and content to drive downloads and build an engaged user base for the Fair Way app. On the paid side, we ran Google Ads to capture high-intent searches from golfers actively looking to buy or sell equipment, alongside paid social campaigns on Meta to build awareness and drive app installs among golfers across the UK looking for a smarter way to trade gear.
Our creative team designed campaign assets, app store visuals, and social content that reflected Fair Way's clean, modern brand identity and the simplicity of the platform's "Buy Sell Play" proposition.
Email campaigns were used to nurture new sign-ups, encourage first listings, and re-engage lapsed users. Throughout the engagement, we continuously optimised spend allocation between channels, shifting budget towards the highest-performing campaigns, scaling efficiently while reducing the cost per download and maintaining strong sign-up conversion rates.
The Results
Over 23 weeks, the Fair Way user base grew by 248%. The cost per app download was reduced by 66% through ongoing campaign optimisation, while maintaining a strong average download-to-signup conversion rate of 34%. The campaigns delivered consistent weekly sign-ups, building the platform's user base towards critical mass and establishing Fair Way as a growing destination for golfers looking to buy and sell equipment.
